Honouring National Indigenous Peoples Day

June 21 is National Indigenous Peoples Day—a time to recognize and celebrate the cultures, traditions, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples.

At Strategic Natural Resource Group, we are honored to work in the traditional territories of dozens of First Nations and proud to have the Ehattesaht Nation as a major shareholder.

Our long-standing relationships are built on respect, collaboration, and shared values. Together, we’ve created opportunities through forestry and environmental projects, local employment, and the integration of traditional knowledge. These partnerships reflect our shared commitment to sustainable stewardship, mutual success, and meaningful community involvement.

These relationships are essential to how we do business. From wildfire resiliency and environmental planning to training and employment, we are committed to building respectful, lasting partnerships grounded in reconciliation and Indigenous leadership.

Over the past year, we’ve supported the Nations through resource development planning, wildfire planning, tenure management, Guardian programs, and more. We are especially grateful for the Indigenous professionals and stewards on our team whose knowledge enriches our work every day.

As we mark National Indigenous Peoples Day 2025, we encourage our team to take time today to reflect, learn, and engage in meaningful ways.

Here are a few ideas:

  • Attend a local Indigenous Peoples Day celebration
  • Learn about the Nation whose territory you live or work on
  • Support an Indigenous-owned business or artist
  • Watch or read work by Indigenous creators

Reconciliation is a shared journey. Let’s keep walking it – together.
