In Person: S-100 Basic Fire Suppression & Safety
The S-100 Basic Fire Suppression & Safety Training is designed to equip industry workers and contract firefighters with the essential knowledge and practical skills required to respond effectively and safely to wildfires in BC. Developed by the BC Wildfire Services, this two-day, 16-hour course incorporates both classroom instruction and hands-on field training. This course covers fundamental aspects of wildland fire suppression, including organization structure, wildfire behaviour, and suppression and safety procedures. S-100 is a mandatory requirement for industry workers who may be involved in fire control activities as outlined in the WorkSafe BC Regulations.
Duration: 16 hours (2-Days)
Format: Classroom & Field
Certification: S-100 Certificate (requires recertification with S-100A after one year)
In Person: S-100A Fire Suppression Recertification (Annual Refresher)
The S-100A Fire Suppression Recertification is an annual refresher program specifically designed for individuals who have previously completed the S-100 Basic Fire Suppression and Safety Training. This course serves as a renewal of essential knowledge and practical skills necessary for industry workers and contract firefighters to effectively and safely respond to wildfires in British Columbia. If you have not taken either S-100 or S-100A within the last five years, you would only need to take the S-100A to be considered trained for the following year. If more than five years has passed since taking either course, you would need to re-take the two-day, S-100 course again.

In Person: S-185 Wildfire Entrapment Avoidance and Survival
The S-185 Fire Entrapment & Avoidance Training is a program designed to equip participants with the ability to assess and navigate potential fire entrapment situations. This course is for individuals employed in fire-fighting roles, including contract fire fighters and emergency responders. Participants will undergo rigorous training and evaluation through a written exam. Upon completion, students will gain a fundamental understanding of fire entrapment avoidance and safe work procedures, ensuring their ability to act decisively in high-risk scenarios.
Duration: 4 hours (Half-Day)
Format: Classroom
Certification: S-185 Certificate
In Person: Combined S-100 & S-185 Training
The S-100 and S-185 Combined Course is a training program designed to provide participants with the skills to effectively respond to wildfires and avoid fire entrapment situations. Developed by BC Wildfire Services, this integrated course caters to both industry workers and individuals employed in fire-fighting roles, including contract firefighters and emergency responders.
Duration: 20 hours (2.5-Days)

Certification: S-100 Annual Certificate & S-185 Certificate
Online: Advanced Wildfire & Emergency Management Training
